The Phonak Inspiro is an advanced FM transmitter used by teachers in regular schools and in schools for hearing impaired children to deliver clear speech to the listeners. The device equipped with a lapel or mini-boom microphone picks up teacher’s voice, applies various real-time audio-enhancement algorithms and sends processed signal to receivers over FM. As a result, speech intelligibility is greatly improved.
dlab was involved on all stages of project development including feasibility studies, development of customized signal processing algorithms (e.g. adaptive beamforming, noise suppression, dynamic range compression), system modelling and real-time simulation as well as final implementation on a low-power fixed-point DSP.
